Fall Color in Northwest New Jersey

Fall for New Jersey! Where to See Vibrant Fall Color in NJ

The Kittatinny Ridge in northwest New Jersey offers up incredible fall color and great hiking in this heavily wooded region. A drive along the ridge presents great views, but to fully immerse yourself amongst the vibrant yellow leaves get out of the car and set out on foot. Our journey began at Buttermilk Falls, up to the Appalachian Trail, and back along the Woods Road trail over a 6.4 mile hike. While the area is very beautiful, be careful as you hike, this part of the state is home to rattlesnakes (which we encountered along our hike).
